John Sawoski played piano and music directed for The Leading Ladies at Salon XII at the Taper, It’s Magic, Celebrating Musical Legacy of Songwriter Sammy Cahn. This year’s show featured Michael Feinstein, Barry Manilow, Tony Danza, The Leading Ladies, Tony Danza, Jack Jones, Robert DiNiro, Niki Haris, Gogi Grant, Wesla Whitfield, Rodney Gilfry, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr.

In the audience (and at the meet-the-artists reception afterwards) were Betty Garrett, John Raitt, Mr. Blackwell, Kirk Douglas and Anne Douglas, Nanette Fabray, and many more celebrities and dignitaries. For photos, click here.

At the reception John Sawoski sat with 87-year-old Broadway star (Oklahoma, Pajama Game, and others) John Raitt (whom John’s friend Dennis McNeil had invited – Dennis was a tenor on the Sammy Cahn show “Words and Music”), as well as Jack Jones, The Leading Ladies, Gogi Grant, Betty Garrett, and others.
