The SpongeBob Musical: Production Photo Recap
Santa Monica College’s colorful production of The SpongeBob Musical completed its six-performance run on July 26. Directed by Perviz Sawoski, with music direction and conducting by John Sawoski, the show filled SMC’s Main Stage with a cast of 35 and a five-piece live band.

The band featured Alex Lui, Pathik Desai, Tim Christensen, Joe Martone, and Satoshi Kirisawa. After the final performance, Perviz thanked the cast, crew, and production team for their work and shared a collection of production photographs celebrating the run.

In a Santa Monica Sun feature, Sean Daly explored the production’s appeal beyond its familiar cartoon characters. The article highlighted SMC’s multigenerational student cast, the student-built lighting, sound, and props, and a set that transformed discarded appliances and other objects into Bikini Bottom. Perviz described the show’s deeper themes of inclusion, community, and environmental awareness—and its humor for both children and adults.
