Election-Themed Recital with soprano Michele Patzakis
On Oct. 17, 2024, John Sawoski accompanied soprano Michele Patzakis in an election-themed recital called American Journeys: Songbook Heritage at Westerbeck Recital Hall on the campus of Pasadena City College. The program included songs like Beautiful Dreamer by Stephen Foster, Tha se paro na figoume by Giannis Spartakou, Give me Your Tired Your Poor by Irving Berlin, The Dodger Song by arr. Aaron Copland, Shenendoah trad. Arranged by Neal Desby, Swing low/This train is bound for glory/I wanna sing – trad. Spiritual, Sister suffragette (Mary Poppins) by Richard Sherman, I Love a Piano (Stop, Look, Listen) by Irving Berlin, and American Anthem music and lyrics by Gene Sheer.
