“Music of Hope” performances with bassoonist Allen Savedoff of The Pacific Symphony
On June 5th and 8th, 2024, John Sawoski gave two free public performances on a blue piano with Pacific Symphony bassoonist Allen Savedoff at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA. The Pacific Symphony collaborated with the City of Hope National Cancer Institute to celebrate patients’ triumph of life over cancer. Every day, from May 27th-June 10th at the South Coast Plaza, in the Jewel Court, the orchestra presented small chamber groups that included the centerpiece of this event, the blue “Hope” piano. The program included a Mozart Bassoon Concerto, Telemann Sonata, Ravel’s Piece en forme de Habanera, Rachmaninoff Vocalise, and Burrill Phillips’ Concert Piece for Bassoon and Strings.
