Dara at Santa Monica College

John Sawoski produced some of the instrumental music tracks and arranged the vocal music for the US premiere of a new play called “Dara,” written by Shahid Nadeem, adapted by Tanya Ronder, and directed by Perviz Sawoski, performed at Santa Monica College’s Main Stage May 23, 24, 30, 31 at 7:30 p.m.; and May 25 & June 1 at 2 p.m.

It’s a fascinating, high production value staging of the story of Aurangzeb vs his brother Dara, in the shadow of the Taj Mahal.

This play was first produced in Pakistan, then at the National Theatre in England.
